Ignite Performing Arts Ensemble programs are a creative, cross-genre education for aspiring performers of all ages. In our Ensemble programs, performers can build their skills sequentially as they grow, with each year laying a solid foundation for the next.

Our carefully crafted programs give members the tools to develop into lifelong musicians who can express themselves creatively, all while thriving in our Ignite Performing Arts community of like-minded players.

Spark Jazz

Who We Are

Spark Jazz is a community jazz ensemble made up of middle school musicians from Southeast Michigan. Students who participate in this ensemble have at least one year of experience on their instrument and are excited to learn jazz fundamentals. Spark Jazz is a 6-week summer course for students to learn the foundations of jazz or continue to build their abilities in the swing style.

Led by professional jazz faculty, this band is the ideal situation for students to learn jazz for the first time, solidify their fundamental skills, and grow as jazz musicians in a very supportive and fun environment. Our Jazz curriculum targets Solo and Group Musicianship, Jazz Performance Practice,, and Personal Development. All instruments are welcome, but saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, drums, and bass are preferred.

Weekly performance course/rehearsals begin June 17, 2024 and run through July 29, 2024:
- 90 minute Jazz Band course
- Mondays @ 9:30am-11:00 am
- Rehearsals at Ardis Music: 49 N. Walnut St, Mt. Clemens MI 48035
- 6 weekly performance classes/rehearsals from June to July
- 1 free concert for the community
- A commemorative t-shirt for the performer
- Fun activities to inspire creativity + build friendships
